Route Map

This 57 mile cycle route forms part of the Hadrian’s Cycle way, also known as The Roman Way. A day is needed to complete this moderate cycle route which allows you to take in some of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site - Roman forts and museums.

Your will begin your journey at Once Brewed, near Haltwhistle (centre of Britain), popular with walkers and cyclists alike. The visitor centre here was awarded Gold Award and voted Visitor Centre of the Year 2007.

Keeping to route number 72, you will travel through Hexham, holding the title for England’s favourite market town and it is clear to see why. Cobbled back streets and the market shambles, The Old Gaol and Queens Hall Art Centre all lie at the foot of the magnificent Hexham Abbey and its beautiful grounds.

On your way you may want to visit Aydon Castle which is close to the quiet village of Corbridge, a truly beautiful place and also worth a visit. It is decorated with independent boutique shops, restaurants and pubs - it would be hard to pass The Angel of Corbridge on a sunny day without stopping off for a well-deserved refreshment.

Your route from now follows the length of the River Tyne to Prudhoe and Prudhoe Castle Heritage Site, Wylam, Newcastle, and onto Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum in South Shields. The coastal town located at the mouth of the river Tyne meets Tyne to Tyne Dock, your final destination.

We can fully support your ride from start to finish and supply bike transport to the start point and collection from the end point. Baggage transfers from and to your chosen accommodation.

Our transfer packages for riders, bikes and bags will vary depending upon whether you’re collected from your home, multiple collection points, transport hubs or the amount of people travelling in your group.

Firstly, if you need to be transported to the start of the cycle route you’re about to embark, you need to establish where you would like to be collected with your bike & baggage. Also, will this be one point for all or does each of your group require separate collections from different points?

Next, depending on the length of your cycle route and the number of days you’re cycling will dictate how many stop-overs you require. Find this out and we will collect your baggage and take it ahead of your arrival to your chosen accommodation, then collect it the following day and do the same for the duration of your cycle route. At the end of the ride, we will collect you and your group with bags and take you back to your pre-arranged drop-off point, again this may be one point for the whole group or individual drop-off’s.

All of our transfer packages for riders, bikes and baggage are individually priced with all of the above taken into consideration. We are very competitive and take care with each enquiry having already transported thousands of enthusiastic riders and their invaluable bikes and even more bags.
