Warden
Warden
Warden is a small village in Northumberland, England. Only two miles from Hexham, it is near here that the waters of North Tyne & South Tyne meet. Over the river was a toll bridge, which has since been replaced, but the original toll house at Warden still stands, at the other end of the bridge is The Boatside Inn, which was previously the place of a ferry, transferring people across the river before the toll was put in place. The Church of St Michael at Warden which may pre-date the 11th century Anglo Saxon Tower, built from Roman Stone and additions to the church since may have been built from Roman material taken from Chesters Roman Fort.
