Ripon
Ripon is a city on the River Ure within Yorkshire, England. Ripon, the fourth smallest city in England, has a rich heritage - surviving the Viking, Norman & Tudor periods. The market town is famed for the spectacular Ripon Cathedral and an abundance of historic buildings and museums such as the Wakerman’s House, Ripon Courthouse Museum, Ripon Work House Museum, Ripon Prison & Police Museum. A more scenic Ripon can be enjoyed on the newly restored Canal Basin of which Ripon is the most northerly point on the England and Wales Waterways. Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Park – both part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site are worth a visit. Also here is the fun-filled theme park Lightwater Valley – home to Europe’s longest rollercoaster.
