Penrith
Penrith

Penrith is a market town situated in the county of Cumbria, England. Situated just 3 miles from the Lake District National Park boundary, Penrith was once the capital and is steeped with history, and until 1070 AD, it was a semi-dependant state which formed part of the Kingdom of Scotland and Strathclyde. High above the town, is the Penrith Beacon monument, where views of the Eden Valley and the Lakeland hills can be taken in. Also here is the Penrith Museum – which has, more recently, been refurbished and covers the history, geology and archaeology of the Penrith area.
