Middleham
Middleham
Middleham is a town in North Yorkshire, England. Sitting at the confluence of the River Ure and the River Cover, Middleham was first populated during Roman times and after the Norman invasion, the building of Middleham Castle began. A trip on the Wensleydale Train, will take you through much of the beloved countryside between Leeming Bar and Redmire, passing through Leyburn and Bedale. Middleham also has a long association with horses. It was the Cistercian Monks of Jervlaux Abbey, near Middeham, that first bred horses in the area over 200 years ago, but it later became known for Middleham Horse Racing and Middleham Horse Training, which all began with Isaac Cape, first a jockey and later as a specialist horse trainer, making a platform for the now 15 or so training establishments, making Middleham a leading horse training centre.
