Masham

Masham is a town in North Yorkshire, England. Due to Masham’s proximity in lower Wensleydale it is an ideal starting point to visit surrounding Ripon, Thirsk, Harrogate, York, Leeds and Richmond and North Stainley. Masham has strong community and is noted for employing the majority of its own population. Masham’s market was first established in 1250 and has flourished ever since, although on a more modest scale compared to the earlier years when it was predominantly a farmers market. Masham is the home of both Theakston Brewery founded in 1827 and The Black Sheep Brewery founded later in 1992 and equally successful, the two breweries are nationally and internationally recognisable. There is the Black Sheep Visitor Centre and the T&R Theakston Visitor Centre if you would like to learn about the brewing processes, if not then there is always Brymor Ice Cream Parlour, a 25 year family run business. There are two working animal feed manufacturing mills in Masham, W.E Jameson & Sons and I’Anson Brothers are big employers in the area.
