Keswick
Keswick

Situated between mountainous Skiddaw and Derwent Water, Keswick is a market town and civil parish within the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria, England. It has claimed its position as the major centre for tourism in the north lakes and has been a market town since 1276 when it was granted it’s market charter by Edward I. though it was due to the discovery of minerals (Copper in particular) in nearby Newlands and Borrowdale that transformed this rural economy. Places to see here are the Pencil Museum – which tells the story of pencil making in Keswick and the Museum & Art Gallery - a purpose built Victorian museum, with a local history collection and original manuscripts from the Lake Poets.
