Dalbeattie is a town in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland. It is situated within the Urr Valley on the Urr Water. Known as the ‘Granite town’ due to its production of granite and Dalbeattie Granite works was first established in 1820. Close to the Colvend Coast, Dalbeattie is an ideal base to explore the area. Dalbeattie was also the home of the First Officer aboard the White Star Super Liner ‘RMS Titanic’, Lt William McMaster Murdoch, Royal Naval Reserve, labelled a hero, Murdoch played a significant role in the ships last moments. Dalbeattie has much to offer the visitor in the way of Dalbeattie Museum, Dalbeattie Forest, Dalbeattie’s Pheasant Hotel, Dalbeattie Wildlife Trail & Dalbeattie Walking Festival – an annual event which takes in the areas much loved countryside, hills & woodland.
