Consett
Consett
Consett is a town in the north west of County Durham, England, and about 14 miles south west of Newcastle upon Tyne. The heritage here is owed to the German cutlers and sword makers who settled in Shotley Bridge during the 17th century and in more recent times, the original home of Wilkinson Sword razor-making company, is now part of Consett. The town is also known for supplying steel for the UK’s most famous nuclear submarines and even the Blackpool tower. The bars here are aptly named after the industry’s legacy, The Steel Club and The Smelters. To see here is the Empire Theatre and Cinema.
