Chollerford is a village in Northumberland, England. Close to the town of Hexham, situated on the River Tyne, it is here you will find Chesters Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall. This is one of the best preserved cavalry forts in existence and was built to protect the Roman Bridge across the River North Tyne, there are extensive remains and it is worth a see. Not far from the site is the Chollerford George Hotel, it is situated on the river next to Chollerford Bridge and dates back to the 1700’s, popular due to its proximity to Newcastle, Hexham, Hadrian’s Wall and Countryside.
