Burnley is a town within Lancashire, England. Situated at the meeting of the River Caldeer and the River Brun, Burnley was a flourishing town during the Industrial Revolution, being one of the largest producers of Cotton Cloth and a major Mill town within the surrounding area which was boosted by the arrival of the Leeds & Liverpool canal in 1796. The history of the Burnley’s efforts during the Industrial Revolution can be seen at Burnley Queen Street Mill Textile Museum. Despite post - industry decline, Burnley was awarded 'Most Enterprising Area in the UK' by the government. Burnley’s weavers Triangle - unique canal-side heritage, has been heavily invested to restore the Victorian buildings and bring the area back to life. From above the town at Crown Point, you will see Burnley’s iconic art works – The Ringing Tree, one of four panopticons in Lancashire a project lead by Mid Pennine Arts.
