Allonby is a village in Cumbria, England. Lying within the Solway coast, Area of outstanding Natural Beauty, within the Allerdale district, the village overlooks Allonby Bay, South Saltpans beach & the West Winds Beach were awarded the blue flag rural beach award in 2005 and during the 19th century, it was a popular sea-bathing resort. Allonby village, which forms part of the 150 mile Cumbria Coastal Way footpath. Also, the Ship Inn was once a coaching inn and accommodated both Charles Dickins and Wilkie Collins.
