Brampton
Brampton
Brampton is a small market town approx. 9 miles east of Carlisle, Cumbria England. Brampton once accommodated Bonnie Prince Charlie, there only to receive the Mayor of Carlisle who was surrendering the city to him. The tourist information centre here is the octagonal Moot Hall, built by the Earl of Carlisle, replacing the previous building which was used to house prisoners by the order of Oliver Cromwell. The town is only 2 miles from Hadrian’s Wall.
